Connections
1. The class will need a rain gauge or some way to measure the rainfall. Each day, one or two children should be in charge of reading the gauge, recording the information and reporting (graphing) the findings. Be sure to pour the rain out after recording it. MA 3.11, 3.15C
SC 3.2B, 3.4A
2. Graph the findings. Either have each child make a graph or make one class graph. Discuss the way in which the water is measured (i.e. centimeters, inches, etc.) How does that compare to the way in which other children in the project are measuring theirs? (The teacher may want to encourage the students to measure in both centimeters and inches to be able to compare with other participants). MA 31.4A, 3.14B, 3.14C
