An Intel Initiative

An Intel and TIF Initiative

Intel® Teach to the Future is a worldwide effort to help both experienced teachers and Pre-Service teachers integrate technology into instruction to develop students' higher-order thinking skills and enhance learning. Participating teachers receive extensive instruction and resources to promote effective technology use in the classroom.

Teachers learn from other teachers how, when, and where to incorporate technology tools and resources into their lesson plans. In addition, they experience new approaches to create assessment tools and align lessons with educational learning goals and standards. The program, consisting of 40 hours of hands-on instruction delivered by means of 10 curricular modules, incorporates use of the Internet, Web page design, and student projects as vehicles to powerful learning.

Launched in 2000, Intel Teach to the Future has trained more than two million classroom teachers in 30 countries, including: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China (People's Republic of), Costa Rica, Estonia, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States. Intel often collaborates with ministries of education or other government entities to adapt the curriculum for each location. By 2006, 2.5 million teachers are expected to be trained worldwide.

Intel continues to offer training and it is recommended that districts further explore this opportunity if they have existing hardware and support infrastructure in place and teachers with an introductory-level background in technology who are willing to learn to integrate technology into their current curriculum.
