Texas STARgate
Texas STARgate was initially funded by the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund to address the dual needs of Technology Applications professional development and credentials for Texas teachers. The collaborative effort between the University of North Texas, the Texas Center for Educational Technology, Classroom Connect, Ector County ISD, and London ISD, developed and piloted a new model of professional development and credentialing for teachers.
Central to this effort was the creation of an online portal to provide "one-stop access" to meet the needs of Texas teachers. The portal now provides a unique combination of Internet-based training and support materials to meet the needs of a variety of projects. Texas STARgate is committed to creating "teacher and student friendly" experiences and materials to meet the needs and requirements of today's schools.
STARgate includes courses that meet SBEC's Technology Applications standards, supplemental activities in a variety of subjects, and resources for teachers and students. Teachers and students have a single location to access instruction content, supporting resources, management functions, and sequenced activities.
