Beginning Educators Gain Instructional Nurturance
Beginning Educators Gain Instructional Nurturance (BEGIN) project is a $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to recruit future teachers to work in high-need content areas, such as science, math, and foreign language, in high-need schools. Partners in this project are
- Midwestern State University
- Texas Center for Educational Technology in the University of North Texas College of Education
- Vernon College
- North Central Texas College
- Wichita Falls ISD
- Region 9 Education Service Center.
The grant will help fund scholarships for 140 future teachers to attend these institutions of higher education. Each scholarship winner will receive
- Up to $2500/year for up to 3 years
- Technology Tools for Communication
- Special Support
- Forums
- Summer Camps
- Mentoring during college
- Mentoring during first 3 years of teaching
