Teacher as Citizen: Surviving in the World of Technology

This course presents the ethical issues that educators encounter when implementing technology into learning and teaching. Designed for K-12 educators, this course will investigate copyright issues, fair use guidelines, Acceptable Use Policies, and other topics that involve use of technology in schools and society. The focus is on informing all learners regarding the ethical use of resources found on the Internet and the societal implications of the use of technology in the classroom and society. In addition to online participation, one or more face-to-face meetings will provide you with support during this course.

Teacher as Researcher: Basic Search Skills and Web Evaluation

In this course, you will learn how to perform effective online searches to locate information. You will also learn about other search tools used to find images and other media, how to find information on intranets and collaborative software, and how to use online help. You will learn Web evaluation strategies to validate and verify online information.

Learners will explore ways communication�based technology can be incorporated into day-to-day routines, adding new depth and ease to the process of communication. Learners will also examine various forms of electronic communications to connect to other teachers, to connect students to one another, and to connect with parents.
