Project BEGIN

Students having fun

Midwestern State University (MSU), North Central Texas College, Vernon College, and the University of North Texas (UNT) are offering financial aid to help you become a public school teacher in a high needs school.

Project BEGIN will address critical needs in the recruitment, preparation and retention of new teachers in Wichita Fall’s urban/rural areas by providing up to $2,500 a year for up to three years of full-time study to students enrolled as undergraduates in teacher preparation programs in these four institutions. Students planning to teach math, science, or foreign language at a high-need public middle or high school are eligible to receive a scholarship, technology tools for communication, special support, and mentoring.

Become a Teacher

BEGIN will focus on recruiting math, science, and foreign language teachers to the north Texas area.

  • College and university students majoring in math, science, or foreign language who want to become teachers
  • People who wish to make a career change
  • Paraprofessionals who are interested in becoming certified teachers
