Technology Competitions

  • ThinkQuest off site
    Competitions include the ThinkQuest Internet Challenge for ages 12 -19 and ThinkQuest Junior for grades 4-6; Started 1995; Students and educators form teams that develop educational websites which are published in the ThinkQuest library; Prizes include scholarships, cash awards, and technology products.
  • Multimedia Mania off site
    For students and teachers who use multimedia to teach and learn; Create dynamic multimedia projects related to any class or coursework; Grades K-12; Emphasis on originality, alignment to curriculum or course content, project design, and proper use and documentation of resources; Prizes include a trip to the award presentation and software.
  • Texas Computer Education Association Contests off site
    Contests in desktop publishing, digital graphics, multimedia, video film festival, web publishing design, programming, and robotics; Four grade-level categories, PreK-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12.
  • TAET Technology Media off site
    Awards for digital music and photography, computer graphics, multimedia, publications, programming, videos, and websites.
  • Cybersurfari off site
    Search for the answers on preselected websites; Can play as individuals, family, or school teams; Cash and other prizes.
  • ArsDigita Prize off site
    Website design contest; Must be under 18; Web design training, web site hosting, and cash prizes.
  • International Schools CyberFair off site
    Creation of a website about your town focusing on one aspect, such as local music and art forms, historical or natural landmarks, or another of the eight categories; Peer review of other sites required; Annual contests since 1996; Prizes include hardware and software.
  • Computer Learning Month Competitions off site
    Two contests for students; web site or desktop movies about your town; Annual contests since 1986; Prizes include hardware and software.
  • American Computer Science League off site
    Computer science contests and computer programming contests for junior and senior high school students; Prizes are software, books and trophies; sample problems available.
  These resources are designed to be used as resources for teaching the Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TA TEKS). The TA CED wants to share these resources but is not responsible for any changes to external sites.
