Project Contract
- Complete the questions on the Contract for TAIS: Independent Study Project.
- Have it signed by a parent or guardian.
Statement of the Project Objective/s or Outcome/s
- Submit and have signed the Formal Proposal for TAIS: Independent Study Project. (TEKS
Framework #1)
- List specific objectives that you wish to accomplish. (TEKS Framework #2)
- With the mentor, invite a group of peers and professionals to serve as your review
committee and ask for suggestions about the project objectives and the recommended
technology tools. (TEKS Framework #21)
- Revise the list of objectives with the help of the mentor. (TEKS Framework #2)
- Begin a log or journal to document progress on the project. (TEKS Framework #1)
- As the project progresses, fill in with the help of the mentor--on the students
copy of the TAIS: RISD Framework for TEKS-Based Independent Studies--the columns titled
PROJECT RESOURCES, ASSESSMENT, and DATE COMPLETED.
Anticipated Outcomes
- Design a procedure to evaluate the process used in the project development (TEKS
Framework #13).
- Indicate how you plan to assess the degree to which the objectives have been met at
completion. (TEKS Framework #11).
Possible Strategies to Achieve the Anticipated Outcomes
- List possible strategies.
- Using mentor/teacher sources and electronic sources, research those strategies for
feasibility. (TEKS Framework #3).
- Indicate the research method/s standard for this discipline. (TEKS Framework #4)

- Select a project management tool to manage the project. (TEKS Framework #14)
- Develop a procedure for assessing how well the project is following the timeline

Steps to Implement the Selected Strategy or Strategies
- Become familiar with the project management tool to be used.
- Become familiar with the project software to be used. (TEKS Framework #6)
- Demonstrate proficiency with the software to be used. (TEKS Framework #7)
- Conduct research and collect data for your project.
- Identify problems with the project progress and make revisions and corrections to the
project timeline based on progress being made. (TEKS Framework #16 and #17)
- Evaluate the data collected. (TEKS Framework #8)
- Organize the data for analysis. (TEKS Framework #9)
- Analyze the data for relevance to the stated project goals. (TEKS Framework #10)
Evaluation of the Outcomes with regards to the Objective/s
- Design a method to evaluate the project and submit for review specific rubrics to
evaluate the design, delivery of the final product, the purpose, and the intended
audience. (TEKS Framework #11 and #12)
- Select the format for the presentation (TEKS Framework #22)
- Produce a presentation product that is the students original work and solves the
stated problem or meets the stated objectives. (TEKS Framework #19)
- Submit the presentation product to the review committee for evaluation based on the
rubrics already established. (TEKS Framework #20 and #24)
- As result of the review, verify that the project product meets the standards set by the
discipline. (TEKS Framework #18)
- Revise and update the presentation product based on the review. (TEKS Framework #25)
- Publish the results of the project in printed and electronic form. (TEKS Framework #23)
- Complete the TEKS Framework matrix and the presentation product; submit documentation
that the standards set by the student and mentor were achieved. (TEKS Framework #26)
