Procedure:
In the New Document Dialog box
Title your document = My First Logo
Set the size of your canvas = Width-400 pixels and Height-300 pixels
Set the resolution= for web pages-72 pixels-per-inch or for print-300 pixels-per-inch
Select the color mode=for web page-RGB or for print-CMYK
Select the contents of your canvas=white for a white background, background for last color used as background, transparent for no background
Now that the basics are taken care of, begin creating
Double click on the paint brush tool to open it
Select a color from the Swatches palette
Select a brush size from the Brushes palette
Begin painting
Experiment with brush option and other basic drawing tools
Add text to the artwork
Click the Type Tool - Make sure foreground color is the color you want for your text
Click in the canvas area
Select font, alignment, size, leading, and spacing
Type your text...click OK
Save your document
To make your document compatible cross platform, save a copy as TIFF and choose the byte order of the machine type that you aren't using
