The Beginning Educators Gain Instructional Nurturance (BEGIN) project is funded by a $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to recruit future teachers to work in high-need content areas, such as science, math, and foreign language, in high-need schools.

The grant will help fund scholarships for 140 future teachers to attend any of the four institutions of higher education listed below. Each scholarship winner will receive

  • Up to $2500/year for up to 3 years
  • Technology Tools for Communication
  • Special Support in the form of:
    • Free Forums
    • Free Summer Institutes
    • One-on-one mentoring during college
    • One-on-one mentoring during first 3 years of teaching

  • Wichita Falls ISD
